Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood

41"x16.5"
I sketched in the Chinese Theatre, buildings, and the tiles. It took a long time because of all the details. I painted the sky green. It was dark green at the top and light green at the bottom. I painted the theatre points on the roof dark red and red. It took awhile to figure out the colors. Paula left me alone to help me learn to figure out colors. She helped me correct the tiles. I painted the theater's roof dark red at the top, red in the center, and orange red at the bottom. Under the roof I painted the building's top ceiling orange red. The building's outer columns are dark red and red. The inner columns next to the outer columns are orange red and red. The area inside the inner columns are pure orange. The frame around the dragon is dark red. The space around the dragon is yellow orange. The dragon has yellow orange, orange, red orange, and red for shadow and yellow for highlights. The theatre's doors are dark red. The other spaces on either sides of the doors are red orange. I repainted all, but the roof of the tall building in shades of reds and oranges to make it brighter. It took awhile because all of the details. I painted yellow lines on the top building where the roof looks like a smiley face. I painted a couple of red lines on the top of the building's ceiling. I painted the other buildings that look like mountains super dark green at the top, then dark green underneath. I painted the walls on either side of the Chinese Theatre different shades of green. The walls are super green, dark green at the top, green, yellow green in the center, and white yellow green at the bottom. The skyscrapers are white yellow green at the top to super dark green at the bottom. I painted white in the tiles where the pencil smudges so it's not confusing. I just repainted the walls and the skyscrapers in different shades of green to make it brighter. The walls are dark to light. The skyscrapers are light to dark. It took a long time because I had to paint carefully and green is hard to cover up. I painted the thick lines in the walls from dark red from the furthest and red orange to the closest. All the ornamentation in the super dark green part is yellow orange. Part of the ornamentation that is in the green section of the wall is red. Then part of the ornamentation that is in the light green and very light green wall is dark red. I painted the window frame on the left side of the theatre red. I painted the window frame on the right side of theatre orange red, but both window panes are yellow. The yellow makes it look like lights are shining through. I finished painting the ornamentation in shades of reds. I painted the tiles in shades of reds and oranges. The tiles closest to the Chinese Theatre is yellow orange. The tiles in the center is orange. The tiles next to the orange ones is red orange. The furthest tiles are red. I finished painting the tiles over again to make it more intense. I painted the lines in the tiles from darkest to lightest. The lines go from dark green closest to the theatre, dark green and green in the center, and very light green closest to the skyscrapers. I painted the moon and stars white first to make it bright. The full moon is orange red. The stars are very light orange and green. This painting is called Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. This painting was finished on June 17, 2012. I like the green and the red together they are comprementary colors and the colors look very Chinese looking. The Chinese Theatre is in Hollywood, California, near L.A. Celebrites put their hand prints in the concrete. The Chinese Theatre is where movies used to be made. The Grauman's Chinese Theatre is a very famous building in California and the United States. This painting took nine sessions to paint.
