I sketched a big bull elk. It has big antlers. I painted the background neon red four times to make it bright. It took a long time because I had to paint around the antlers carefully. I painted glow in the dark bright green for highlights on the elk's antlers. The highlights are on all the right sides and the tops. I painted the highlights three times. It took a long time. I painted the elk's neck, chin, and parts of the upper body dark green. The belly is mainly green. The legs are dark green. I painted the eyeball black, iris green, and the outer eye a light green. I painted the elk's body twice and then repainted it two more times again after I painted it twice. I painted the highlights on the elk's body, legs, and head. The highlights are on the left sides. On the dark green area the highlights are a lighter dark green. On the green areas the highlights are a lighter green. The pupil is glow in the dark bright green paint. I finished this painting October 25, 2012. This painting is called Monster Elk. I painted the elk from a photo on a front cover of a Montana elk hunting magazine, but made the antlers huge, the elk is in shades of green, the background is neon red. This painting is vibrant because the dark green elk stands against the neon red background. Red and green are complementary colors so they stand out.
